The President of the United States has several crucial jobs to say the least.
Constitutional Powers:
The power of the president has expanded in recent years through technology and prominence on the world stage. The presidents themselves often increase presidential responsibilities and political resources.
Constitutional Powers:
- National Security Powers-Commander in Chief, make treaties with other nations, nominate ambassadors, confirm diplomatic recognition on other governments
- Legislative Powers- State of the Union address, Recommend legislation, adjourn Congress if the House and the Senate can't agree on adjournment, Veto legislation, convene both houses of Congess
- Administrative Powers- Laws are executed, nominate officials as provided for by Congress, request written opinions of administrative officials, fill administrative vacancies during congressional recesses
- Judicial Powers- Grant reprieves and pardons for federal offenses, nominate federal judges
